How May I Help You?
Do you need some web sites or web based activities to enhance
one of your units? It would be my pleasure to research available
resources for you. I've assisted teachers with web resources for
almost any topic or content area you can think of! Just email a
topic request to me a couple of weeks before you need them. When
I get a few minutes between appointments, I can research your
topic! Just send me an
email (mlewis@amherst.k12.va.us)
or call me at Central
Elementary during my office hours and we can set up a time to get
together.

Lesson Ideas
1. Take a digital photo of
each
student. Glue these to theft side of a Venn Diagram.
Have students complete the diagram with info such as height, weight,
what subject they like best, etc. Put these diagrams away until
the end of the year and at which time you can repeat the activity on
the right side of the diagram.
2. Run a
black
lined map off on a transparency for each student. Tape this
transparency to the computer
monitor. Have students pull up the paint program. Students
can see through the transparency to trace the map in paint. They
then have a map which can be labeled with information such as where
certain Native American Tribes lived, the regions of the map, economic
goods and services produced in certain regions, or explorer's
routes.

Where to from here?
Just what should your
kids be
learning about technology? The VIRGINIA
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY STANDARDS OF LEARNING will help guide you
in the skills your students need in technology. I would be glad
to help you with lesson plans and activities to go along with the
standards. Remember, you are not
using the standards to teach
technology but rather, you are using technology to teach the standards.
