How May I Help You?
I am thankful for all the feed back I got from you.  I have tons of you that wish to get together or get together again.  I think the best thing may be for you to send me an email at least two days ahead of time to let me know what day and time you would like to get together.  I am excited about all the requests to come and observe a lesson.  Check  my schedule to see open time slots within the days that I am at your school.  That way you will know better when we can collaborate.

Tech Tip

Take that Back!

Have you ever sent an email before you were really ready to send it, forgot to add an attachment or just decided you shouldn't have sent it at all.  Supposedly you can retrieve an email you have sent as long as the receiver hasn't opened it.  Here's how.

1.  Open your sent folder.

2. Open the email you didn't want to send.

3. Under Action choose Recall this Message.

I love this tip since I have gotten in trouble several times for sending out emails before I really read through them!

 Lesson Ideas

This month's highlighted software:

Kid Pix

Kid Pix is one of my favorite software programs.  Temperance and Pleasant View have this program.  Amherst Elementary and Central Elementary teachers may want to request this.  Of course, you can do the same activities with Microsoft Paint.  It's just not quite as fun.
  • Create a cover for a book
  • ABC books
  • Color books- things of the same color
  • Symmetry
  • Spelling- write in different styles for practice
  • Illustrate a story
  • Explain a process...water cycle, plant cycle, food chain, writing process
  • Dot to Dot pictures
  • Fraction pictures
  • Math sentences
  • Division problems
  • Bar graphs with stamps
  • Make trading cards for books read
  • Design book covers, wrapping paper, etc.
  • Book summaries in form of comic strips
  • Draw and label pictures

S
taff Developments

Our first staff development on Increasing Student Achievement using Computerized Concept Mapping went over very well.  Several individuals have requested that we repeat this workshop.  If you wish for us to do this please send an email to either myself or Gail.  We need documentation of a beig enough class before we can put it back on the  offerings.

Our next staff development will be on October 6th.  It is called Reviewing Core Content using Power Point Game Shows.  It will be at Amherst Elementary from 4:30-6:30.  See you there!

The final one before Christmas will be on Digital StoryTelling.  Check the Staff Development sign up page on the Amherst Website.  If you need help, please ask and I will be happy to assist you.
