Tech Tip
Selecting Your Homepage

Would you prefer to have your Internet Explorer open to your classroom web page or your school's home page?  Some teachers prefer Internet Explorer to open on a search engine such as Yahooligans.  Whatever your choice, here is how you do select your home page:

Open Internet Explorer
Navigate to the page you want to use as your home page
Choose Tools from the menu bar
Then select Internet Options
You will see a box that is labeled Home page
In that box, click the button that says Use Current.
That will set the page you are currently on to be your home page.
Just click OK and you are done.

Downloadables and Lab Lessons

These would make great lab lessons that could be completed in one sitting or you could use these as center tasks.  These have come from Bedford County. Your ITRTs have networked with others all over the state.  It's great to be able to share resources.   One suggestion is to take time to download these resources to your own computer and then burn them to a disk.  We will also down load and save these on a shared folder.

Three years ago I went to CVS to print off some photos from my camera.  There was an elderly woman there who wanted to make a copy of a very old picture.  The picture showed two little girls, a woman of about 30 and a car.  I heard the sweetest story of how the mother in this picture borrowed the car from a family member to drive the two little girls to Atlanta to see Dr. King.  One of the little girls in the photo was the elderly woman who was trying to duplicate the picture.  Of course I helped her but I got much more out of helping her than she did with just a copy of the picture.

Invite older members of your community into your classroom who remember historical events.  Allow them to bring in pictures.  If you schedule it ahead of time I can work with your guest to turn their photos into a slide show that can be presented to the whole class.

Have a safe and happy holiday:
